The overriding characteristic of Noel's exquisite bird paintings is the attention to detail. He loves to capture the particularities of each species with exactness. These photo-realistic paintings are crafted with an airbrush and fine brushes using acrylic inks and traditional gouache. the colours are built up in thin layers until the desired effect is achieved. Some works can take days of fine brushwork to capture the intricate detail. 

Noel enjoys painting Australian birds, especially those species found in the South West of Western Australia. He finds inspiration outside the doors of his won studio, and many of the bird species represented in his work can be seen on his property.
